ARGUS Privacy Policy

Effective Date: [Insert Date]

Welcome to ARGUS (also referred to as "ARGUS NEURAL SYSTEMS"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the ARGUS application, its associated desktop client, web interfaces, and backend services.

Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.

1. Information We Collect

A. Local Data & Processing

ARGUS is designed with a local-first architecture. By default, the vast majority of your data (including vector database storage, local AI model inferences, and knowledge graph data) is processed and stored locally on your machine.

  • Application Data: We store data you explicitly provide or that the application ingests based on your configuration, such as document indexes, task lists, and conversational memory.

B. Device and Sensor Data

If you explicitly grant permission and enable specific features, ARGUS may access:

  • Audio Data (Microphone): For voice-activated commands and dictation features. Audio is processed locally where possible.

  • Video Data (Camera): For ARGUS Vision capabilities. Camera streams are not recorded or transmitted externally unless explicitly configured by the user.

C. System Telemetry and Diagnostics

To ensure the stability and security of the platform, ARGUS may collect:

  • Performance Metrics: Data regarding system resource usage, event bus throughput, and LLM load times (HealthOS).

  • Error Logs: Crash reports and error traces to facilitate troubleshooting.

D. Third-Party Integrations

If you choose to connect third-party services, ARGUS will interact with them based on your granted permissions:

  • Trello (OAuth 2.0): If authorized, ARGUS receives an access token to import, sync, and manage your Trello boards. We do not see or store your primary account passwords.

  • Cloud Storage & NAS: Depending on your selected Autonomy Level ("Read & Notify", "Suggest & Tag", or "Full Autonomy"), ARGUS may read, analyze, rename, or move files within your connected external storage.

  • External LLM APIs: If you configure external APIs (e.g., OpenAI) as fallbacks or primary engines, relevant prompt data will be securely transmitted to those providers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Operate, maintain, and provide the core functionalities of the ARGUS application.

  • Maintain contextual memory and improve localized AI responses.

  • Continuously monitor system health and provide diagnostic UI alerts.

  • Execute automated security playbooks and threat mitigation via ARGUS Defender.

  • Facilitate and manage your authorized third-party integrations.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Because ARGUS prioritizes local execution, we do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose your information only in the following situations:

  • With Your Consent: For example, when you explicitly authorize the app to transmit data to a third-party API.

  • Legal Obligation: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4. User Controls and Data Lifecycles

ARGUS provides granular controls over how your data is handled:

  • Autonomy Switches: You can restrict the system's ability to act on your behalf by adjusting Autonomy Levels (e.g., switching to strict "Human-in-the-Loop" mode).

  • Privacy Purge: You have the ability to initiate a "Privacy Purge" at any time, which permanently deletes your local vector DB contents, chat histories, conversational memory, and cached integration data.

5. Security

We leverage integrated security measures, including the ARGUS Defender architecture, to protect the application environment from local and network threats. We restrict access to sensitive configurations and use industry-standard encryption for API keys and OAuth tokens.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Effective Date" of this policy. You are encouraged to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed of updates.
